Phillips Made Peace With Dying Dad

The troubled actress has revealed all about her incestuous relationship with late The Mamas & The Papas singer John Phillips in her new memoir High On Arrival, in which she describes how she was first raped by her father on the eve of her 1979 marriage.

The former child star admits the sexual encounters over a 10-year period eventually became consensual - and the sick romance only ended when she fell pregnant.

Despite her bombshell allegations, Phillips insists her rocker dad meant her no harm, and she reveals she had the chance to sit down with her ailing father to clear the air before his death from heart failure in 2001.

In an appearance on America's Today Show on Thursday (24Sep09), she says, "I did take the opportunity when he was dying to sit down with him and talk with him and forgive him and it was kind of a beautiful act."
