Phil Collins' nephew Phillip Austin Collins, 37, has been arrested after allegedly attempting to smuggle over 30kg of cocaine in Britain on his yacht. Collins, whose father is Phil's brother - was held after police in Peru made the discovery on the 39ft vessel Audaciter, reports the UK's Sun newspaper.
He and two other Brits are accused of trying to sail the stash of cocaine out of Peru and into Britain - the drugs were hidden in fuel tanks and fire extinguishers. The trio were stopped by police shortly after they set sail from Peru's capital, Lima. Phillip, who is an ex-pub landlord, was reportedly paraded for local television cameras by authorities, who have stepped up their crackdown on drugs offenses in the past month, making 27 arrests. A spokesman for Phillip's Uncle Phil refused to comment on the situation. Though the musician now lives in Switzerland, he was at Buckingham Palace in January to see Phillip's father Clive collect his Mbe for his cartoon work.
Two other men identified as Richard Marshall Crew and Gareth John Young were also arrested as part of the investigation.
