Peter Mullan - Peter Mullan Calls For Cops To Nail Pal's Killer
War Horse star Peter Mullan has called for police to step up their investigation into the murder of a close friend in 1997.
Actor Hugh Ferris' body was discovered at his home in Glasgow, Scotland 15 years ago. His feet and ankles had been bound by telephone cable.
Despite a lengthy investigation, no one has ever been charged over his death, and now Mullan has appealed to detectives to bring the killer to justice.
He tells Britain's Daily Record, "Whoever did this to my friend is still out there. On behalf of his family, the people of Glasgow and for justice, they have got to reopen this case.
"I was absolutely aghast (when I heard of his murder). The circumstances of his death were so bizarre. He was tied up in a chair in his own home, apparently robbed. I believe he was asphyxiated, suffered a heart attack and died.
"What shocked me more than anything was that it didn't get a lot of (press) coverage and that nobody has been brought to justice for this. I can't even imagine the anguish his family must be going through... it beggars belief this case has been allowed to go cold."
A spokesperson for Strathclyde Police says, "The investigation into the death of Hugh Ferris is still ongoing."
