Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel Uses High Speed Train Travel To Combat Writer's Block
Rocker Peter Gabriel takes train rides whenever he's struggling with lyrics - because he believes the "peripheral visual stimulation" of a fast-moving vehicle helps open his mind.
The Sledgehammer singer reveals he has passed on his theory to other great thinkers and insists friends have tried his train-travel theory.
In an interview for the Dvd and Blu-Ray release of his Classic Albums: So documentary, Gabriel explains, "I think when we have peripheral visual stimulation on trains and things just moving past you at high speed, the brain automatically is freed up... The idea for Womad (charity festival) came on a train (and) lots of lyrics.
"I've since suggested this to a few other people and I think I should be on commission for the train companies because I know a few people who have been out there on the train."
