Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel 'Appalled' By Rush Limbaugh's Comments, Pulls Music From His Show
Rocker Peter Gabriel has demanded that his music is removed from conservative talk radio star Rush Limbaugh's daily show in America after learning his song Sledgehammer was used during the broadcaster's attack on a student who had testified at a Congressional hearing on contraception.
In a post on his Facebook.com page, it is reported Gabriel was "appalled" to learn the track was part of Limbaugh's radio rant, in which he called Georgetown, Washington, D.C. student Sandra Fluke a "slut" and "a prostitute" for arguing that her university's health insurance should cover contraception for female students.
The statement reads, "Peter was appalled to learn that his music was linked to Rush Limbaugh's extraordinary attack on Sandra Fluke. It is obvious from anyone that knows Peter's work that he would never approve such a use.
"He has asked his representatives to make sure his music is withdrawn and especially from these unfair aggressive and ignorant comments."
Limbaugh has since apologised for his remarks, but sponsors have already pulled their support from his show.
