Peter Fonda - Peter Fonda Launches Expletive Barack Obama Tirade
Peter Fonda, the American actor and star of the classic 1969 road movie 'Easy Rider', has launched an expletive attack on the US President Barack Obama over his handling of the Gulf oil spill. Peter Fonda, speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, called the President a "traitor" for attempting to gag reporting of the disastrous spillage in May 2010, reports Abc News.
Fonda is in Cannes for the premiere of his new movie 'The Big Fix', by Rebecca Tickell and Josh Tickell. The film, which focuses on the explosion of the BP oil rig 'Deepwater Horizon', is the only feature documentary in the official selection at this year's festival. A keen environmentalist, Fonda accused Washington of attempting to gag reporting of the spillage, saying, "I sent an email to President Obama saying, You are a f****** traitor. using those words... You're a traitor, you allowed foreign boots on our soil telling our military, in this case the coastguard, what they can and could not do, and telling us, the citizens of the United States, what we could or could not do". In 'The Big Fix', Fonda attempts to gain access to the Louisiana beaches in order assess the impact of the biggest oil spill in US history, only to be turned away by BP personnel.
Peter Fonda is currently shooting the forthcoming movie 'Banker to the Poor', a biographical film based on the story of Peace Prize winner Mohammad Yunus. He recently completed the comedy-drama movie 'East Fifth Bliss', with Michael C. Hall and LUCY LIU.
