Pete Doherty - Pete Doherty Still Set For Summer Festival
Jailed rocker Pete Doherty will be freed in time to play a headline slot at Britain's Reading and Leeds festivals in August (11) - if he keeps out of trouble while behind bars.
The former Libertines frontman was sentenced to six months in prison on Friday (20May11) after he pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine.
Legal protocol in the U.K. allows for early release for good behaviour after serving half the sentence - and it has now emerged Doherty's proposed release date is just days before his planned solo shows at the festivals.
Doherty is due to headline the Festival Republic stage at the twin events on 26 and 28 August (11), and court papers give his proposed date of release as 21 August.
He is still listed on the line-up for Oxegen in Dublin, Republic of Ireland in July (11) but is almost certain to be pulled from the bill. His name is no longer listed as part of the line-up on the website of Scotland's T in the Park, which also takes place in July.
