Pegg Is A Dad

British funnyman SIMON PEGG is a new dad.
The Star Trek actor's wife, Maureen MCCann, gave birth to a baby girl at the weekend.
It's the first child for the couple, who wed four years ago this month (Jul05).
Pegg, who is godfather to pals Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's daughter Apple, recently confessed he couldn't wait to be a dad: "It's the most important thing to me. I'm very excited."
He admitted he was delighted his kid will be born in Los Angeles, as it will entitle the baby to dual citizenship.
He added, "It struck me that, technically, he or she could eventually become President of the United States. The potential is there!"

"Consciously Uncoupled" Paltrow, Martin, Reunite At The Screening Of Simon Pegg's New Movie 4306282 News

Conscious uncoupling or not, there may still be hope for Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin – in the friendship department, at least. Multiple sources, including Us Weekly, report that the pair looked completely at ease with one another, when they attended the premiere of Hector and the Search of Happiness on Monday, July 28, in East Hampton.

Gwyneth Paltrow
Post-separation, Patrow and Martin are keeping things civil and even friendly.

The former couple reportedly stuck together throughout the event and the afterparty.

According to the “observer,” quoted by Us Weekly (how creepy is that?) Paltrow entered the movie theater shortly after Martin and the two did not pose for any photos together. Still, Paltrow "was all smiles and joyful.” She introduced Hector star Simon Pegg as “my very dear friend and my daughter’s godfather.”

With Martin also seated in the crowd, Paltrow went on to say the family was "very proud" of Pegg. "He's the biggest movie star in our family," she concluded.

At the cocktail party later in the evening, Us Weelky’s “observer” apparently kept a close eye on the proceedings and later reported “Paltrow mostly talked to party goers and was completely engrossed in conversation.”

Meanwhile, Martin hung out on the sidelines alongside Paltrow’s mother, Blithe Danner. In conclusion, apparently the split was just as amicable as the two made it out to be back in March.

Busy as usual, Paltrow and Martin didn't get to spend a lot of time together.

In the trailer we see Pegg’s character head to China initially, presumably to get a handle on what it means to be happy by way of Buddhist teachings. Only, China seems to be closed on Mondays – like barber shops. He then heads to the plains of Africa, only to Skype his wife and have her show “the guys” a bit more than he wanted them to see.

Of course, Hector’s search for happiness leaves one person in his life profoundly unhappy. While he’s in some of the world’s most beautiful locations, she’s trapped in the same rat race he broke free from. Can Hector and Clara both find happiness? We’ll have to wait until August to find out, like Pegg said.

Hector (Simon Pegg) is a top psychiatrist who may appear to have everything one needs in life; a comfortable salary, his beautiful girlfriend Clara (Rosamund Pike) and plenty of friends; but after spending day after day listening to people complain about being so unhappy, he's starting to lose faith in his own advice. Bored of his own routine life, he takes a break from counselling and decides to embark on a round the world trip to uncover the true meaning of happiness. Visiting foreign lands far and wide shows him just how different people's lives really are and far from learning whether or not happiness exists, he begins to discover a new way of thinking. His desperate partner is feeling less than joyful about his long absence, but will his return bring them a fresh dose of contentment? Or will he decide that happiness can't be found within his London home?

'Hector and the Search For Happiness' is an amusing tale of self-discovery based on the novel 'Hector's Voyage or the Search for Happiness' by French psychiatrist François Lelord. The movie adaptation has been directed by BAFTA nominated Peter Chelsom ('Hannah Montana: The Movie', 'Serendipity', 'Shall We Dance') who co-wrote alongside Maria von Heland ('Big Girls Don't Cry', 'Search', 'England!') and Tinker Lindsay. 'Hector...' won Best Foreign Comedy Trailer at the 2014 Golden Trailer Awards and is due to be released in UK cinemas on August 15th 2014.

Margot Robbie Debuts Flame Red Hair At Charity Event In London [Pictures] 4246028 News

If someone was to ask Margot Robbie if blondes have more fun, she’d now be able to give an informed decision. This year the actress, who made her name starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, has dyed her tresses from blonde to brunette and now she’s debuted a new copper-coloured do.

23-year-old Robbie stepped out at the Natural History Museum in London to attend the One For The Boys male cancer foundation charity fashion ball. The event is just one of several which have taken place throughout the year to raise awareness and funds for cancers which affect men. The ball began with a champagne reception, which was followed by dinner prepared by Michelin star chefs, an auction and a fashion show.

Robbie wore a stunning blue and white tiered gown, which she teamed with two-part strappy white sandals and a navy blue clutch bag.  She opted for simple makeup just applying a touch of nude lipgloss.  The demure but understated look meant that her new hair colour took centre stage and the actress looked calm and confident with her new flame red hair.

Since her huge success in The Wolf of Wall Street, Australian-born Robbie has several big projects in the pipelines. She will be starring alongside True Blood Alexander Skarsgard in a 3D version of Tarzan due to be released in 2016. Later this year she’ll be back on the big screen in Focus with Will Smith, in a role that was originally pegged to go to Kristen Stewart.

Robbie was just one of the big name stars who attended the charity ball, which was also attended by singer Pixie Lott, comedian Simon Pegg and model David Gandy.

The Boxtrolls 4242655 Videos 13th June 2014

Eggs is a young boy living in the dairy loving, wealthy town of Cheesbridge. He was adopted as a baby and is a perfectly ordinary boy - apart from the fact that he was brought up in a sewer by an unusual group of foster parents. The Boxtrolls are underground creatures feared throughout the town as sinister and dangerous monsters, but in truth they are remarkably kind and so shy that they spend most of their time hiding in the boxes they wear as shells and venturing out at night so that they don't bump into the Cheesebridge residents. All they wish to do is collect discarded rubbish and turn it into incredible machines. Unfortunately, despite their harmlessness, a vicious exterminator named Archibald Snatcher is after their heads when the town's council insists on their removal. Eggs must help save his family, but first he's got to start behaving like a regular boy.

'The Boxtrolls' is a charming stop-motion adventure which is based on  Alan Snow's 'Here Be Monsters!'. It has been directed by Graham Annable ('ParaNorman' story artist) and Anthony Stacchi ('Open Season'), and written by Irena Brignull ('Skellig', 'Come Together') and Adam Pava ('Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends') and will be released in the US on September 26th 2014.

Simon Pegg Is In Star Wars Episode VII, Apparently 4241544 News

Despite stating he had no interest in any role in Star Wars Episode VII, Simon Pegg has apparently filmed a not-so-secret-any-more scene in the new J.J Abrams movie.

According to a source talking to IGN’s Middle East arm, Pegg was present in Abu Dhabi for the desert portion of Star Wars’ filming dates. This directly contravenes what the Cornetto trilogy actor told The Independent.

"I don't think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest. I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting. I wouldn't want to be popped out of the film by a knowing cameo. I think it would be great to do it properly," he said.

Bleeding Cool sat down with Pegg yesterday and, according to Brendon Connelly, “He didn’t show obvious signs of an Abu Dhabi tan.” So basically, it’s all on that source. We’ll probably know either way by Monday, so sit tight.

In other galactic news, George Osborne – the British chancellor – announced that the upcoming Star Wars spin off will be filmed in the U.K, and was very proud of that fact, too.

Visiting the set of Episode VII, Osborne said the decision to film another StarWars in Britain is a "testament to the incredible talent" at Pinewood. "This will mean more jobs and more investment. It is great news for people working at Pinewood Studios, from the set designers to the carpenters," he said.

Hidden Below The Streets Are The 'Boxtrolls' [Trailer + Pictures] 4118214 News

The trailer for the latest film to come from Laika, Phil Knight's Hillsboro animation studio, has hit the web. ‘Boxtrolls’ tells the story of a group of goblins that live underground, feeding off grubs and various bugs, and using boxes to appear greater than the sum of their parts.

BoxtrollsHe's not a boxtroll, but he sort of is, is Eggs

The trailer gives us a further look at the beautifully crafted, almost dickensian world that the talented guys at Laika have created. The fantastical setting is intriguing as soon as we see the cobbled roof tiles, and becomes even riper for exploring the further we go down, even below the street, where those adorable (yet thoroughly disgusting) Boxtrolls.

We don’t know much about plot yet; from the trailer we can glean a few pieces of key information, though. Like the fact the trolls do in fact hide in boxes to conceal themselves when they’re spotted – they’re very shy, you see. And juxtaposed to what we see in the trailer, there’s really no reason for the residents of the Cheesebridge, under which our Boxtrolls live, to be scared of them.

This "steampunk, Victorian, Monty Python-world seemed perfect for the look of stop motion,” one of the film’s directors, Anthony Stacchi, told Yahoo! Movies. "You can’t ask for better characters to animate in stop motion than guys who live in magical boxes that pop in and out of the top of."

Perhaps the most important thing we can see in the trailer - and we already knew this, given that the film is based on the children's novel 'Here Be Monsters' by Alan Snow - is the young orphaned boy named Eggs, raised by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors, who is to save his friends from an evil exterminator.

Boxtroll eating insectsYou see what we mean about disgusting?

In terms of cast and crew, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Ben Kingsley, Ellie Fanning, Toni Collette, Jared Harris, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade and Tracy Morgan all lend their voices to the film. Graham Annable – who was previously the story artist for Coraline and ParaNorman – is the other director.

We’ve already been treated to a few visual teasers for Boxtrolls. The first teaser simply laid down the story’s bones, as the titular creatures stumble across a human boy. In the second teaser we went behind the scenes, taking a look at the elaborate models and sets, and the third saw Cee Lo-Green singing a happy song without any dialogue or story explanation needed. Laika have a great reputation for stop motion films having been behind both Coraline (2009) and ParaNorman (2012). Both of those fantastic films saw Laika combine with Focus Features, a partnership that continues to thrive with ‘Boxtrolls’.

Travis Knight, the producer of Laika’s ParaNorman and one of its lead animators, had this to say on the painstaking method used to create the company’s distinctive style of movie. “Stop-motion is probably the worst, most painful way to make a film. It’s a completely awful process to engage in, an anachronism. But the stories have a warmth and a charm. You’re not looking at ones and zeros. You’re looking at the hands of the artists who made it.” (L.A Times)

The Boxtrolls opens in 3D on September 26th this year. Until then, take a look at some more pictures from the movie:

The trailer for the latest film to come from Laika, Phil Knight's Hillsboro animation studio, has hit the web. ‘Boxtrolls’ tells the story of a group of goblins that live underground, feeding off grubs and various bugs, and using boxes to appear greater than the sum of their parts.

Well, none was given anyway.

The Boxtrolls are odd underground creatures that wear cardboard boxes as if they were shells. Shy and wary of the unforgiving world around them, they take to the streets at night to recycle rubbish from dustbins and store it in their homes below the streets of Cheesebridge; a town fixated with money and smelly cheese and who are less than welcoming to their sewer dwelling neighbours, who they believe to be enormous insidious menaces. That couldn't be further than the truth when it comes to the Boxtrolls; there is simply nothing menacing about them, so when they find themselves being pursued by a ruthless exterminator by the name of Archibald Snatcher, all they want to do is make sure they are well hidden. They have a protector, however, named Eggs - a young boy who the Boxtrolls adopted as a baby - and he's about to show them just how brave they can be in the face of danger.

This stop-motion adventure has been based on the 2005 novel 'Here Be Monsters!' by Alan Snow. Directed by Graham Annable ('ParaNorman' story artist) and Anthony Stacchi ('Open Season'), and written by Irena Brignull ('Skellig', 'Come Together') and Adam Pava ('Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends'), 'The Boxtrolls' will be released in the UK on September 12th 2014.
