Paul Mccartney Thanks 'The Boys' At Walk Of Fame Ceremony

Sir Paul McCartney unveiled his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday (February 9, 2012). The rocker is surprisingly the last of The Beatles to be recognized on the legendary walk of Hollywood A-listers, though he paid tribute to his fellow Liverpudlians at the ceremony, reports the Press Association.

Somewhat fittingly, MCCartney's star takes pride-of-place outside the Capitol Records building, and the British star was introduced by Canadian musician Neil Young to a bustling crowd of fans in Los Angeles. Sir Paul said, "Way back in history, in Liverpool when we were kids and we were listening to Buddy Holly and all the rock 'n' roll greats, I would have never thought that the day would come when I'd be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame". MCCartney touchingly paid tribute to his fellow band-mates Ringo Starr, John Lennon and George Harrison, saying, "I couldn't have done it certainly without three boys so I want to say thanks to those guys". Drummer Ringo was scheduled to attend the ceremony, but was feeling "a little under the weather", though Sir Paul was joined by his new wife Nancy Shevell and son James. It's already shaping up to be a big year for the veteran singer-songwriter, having been announced as the headliner for a spectacular musical tribute to the Queen, marking her Diamond Jubilee in London. The former Beatle will be the main attraction in a concert-line-up boasting a plethora of stars, including Gary Barlow, Tom Jones and Annie Lennox. He is also scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (12 February 2012), where fellow British star Adele is expected to dominate.

Meanwhile, MCCartney's latest album 'Kisses on the Bottom' has been received favorably by critics, with the New York Times suggesting, "The music ... floats over you like a light mist on a cool spring morning in an English garden as the sun glints through the haze". Uncut magazine were equally complimentary, saying, "This album is made with care, love and expertise and it shows on every song". Though no dates have been confirmed, it is likely that Sir Paul will head out on the tour in support of the album later in the year.

First, for the record, although articles related to Paul getting his star read as if he's been long neglected, i.e., the last Beatle to get his star, he could have had it in 1993, but he declined because his schedule didn't permit. Secondly, for once I would like to hear him thank John Lennon for inviting him to join "his" band. His thanking the "boys" is typical (makes it sound like they were his back up band), he will not specifically give John credit for opening the door for him. While Paul is very talented, and acts the nice guy -- it's very important for him to be liked, underneath it all he's very self serving. Before everyone goes postal regarding any negative remarks about St. Paul, do your homework and read beneath the great PR he has.

First, although articles related to Paul receiving the "star" make it seem like he's long been neglected, he could it have it in 1993, but his schedule didn't permit it. Secondly, for once I would like hear him thank John Lennon for inviting him to join "his" band. Thanking "the boys" is so typical, almost as if they were his back up. Of course he is unable to thank John because then it would give John credit for making a difference in his life. Yes, Paul is very talented, but beneath that nice guy face he likes to wear -- he's a very self-serving individual who has a need to be like by all, but not enough to be gracious and thank John. Before everyone goes postal for any negative remarks about St. Paul, do your homework and learn what's beneath his great PR.

Agree 100% with LenThea. I am a huge fan of Paul and The Beatles but everything that LenThea has said is true. I read a very good biography by Bob Spitz that said as much too.

They should use a picture of Paul not some guy from a tribute band! First clue? Paul is a lefty.
