Paul Mccartney, John Lennon's Childhood Homes Made Listed Buildings

Paul McCartney and John Lennon's childhood homes have been listed as Grade II buildings by the English Heritage, according to Bbc News. Both houses are of course in the North Western city of Liverpool, with MCCartney's spot being on Forthlin Road where he lived between the ages of 13 and 22 years old. Lennon meanwhile lived at Mendips, a 1930 semi-detached house, with his Aunt and her husband between the ages of five and 22 - this house held added significance as it was here where they wrote The Beatles first UK number one hit together, 'Please Please Me.' Both houses meanwhile would've been where The Quarrymen, Lennon and MCCartney's first band, held their fledgling practise sessions.

Both houses have now been refurbished by the National Trust to look as they did when Lennon and MCCartney grew up there through the 50s and 60s, Tourism and Heritage Minister John Penrose stating that The Beatles were "tremendously important" and that the listing meant that both houses were "legally protected from being bashed around or altered in the future."

A statement from Lennon's widow Yoko Ono, who tends to pop up in these sort of situations, said "Mendips always meant a great deal to John and it was where his childhood dreams came true for himself and for the world."
