Sir Paul Mccartney - Paul Mccartney Is Joined By Katy Perry And Tony Bennet For Grammy Tribute Concert


Paul Mccartney was celebrated this weekend when he received the MusiCares' 2012 Person of the Year award, hosted by Grammy organizers ahead of this weekend's major music awards. Paul Mccartney was commemorated by fellow artists such as Katy Perry and TONY BENNET.
Other artists that celebrated the ex-Beatle were Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, COLPLAY and the Foo Fighters. The show kicked off with MCCartney performing his own rendition of 'Magical Mystery Tour' with all the other artists singing tributes to his work, Katy Perry belted out 'Hey Jude', Coldplay cried 'We Can Work it Out' and Alicia Keys gave soul to 'Blackbird' on piano. When he accepted the award, MCCartney said: 'For me, obviously it's great to hear these fantastic artists singing my songs'. Actor-comedian Eddie Izzard hosted the event which celebrated MCCartney's creative accomplishments over his several decades in the industry and his charitable endeavours.
The gala was able to raise $6.5 million to provide aid to musicians in need of help, with the night featuring a live auction of a red and cobalt blue piano, painted by Peter Max for Ringo Starr, that sold for $175,000. Earlier this week, MCCartney saw his his name appear across a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame near the legendary Capitol Records building. He is scheduled to perform at the music industry's top awards show, the Grammys, tomorrow night (12th Feb 2012).
