Sir Paul Mccartney - Paul Mccartney Gets Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star - Finally

Sir Paul Mccartney has followed in the footsteps of his former band members and been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The former Beatle became the 2,460th celebrity to be awarded the honour of being immortalized on the legendary walk-way. His star was approved in 1993 and he's the last of the four Beatles to have been added, after George Harrison's was added posthumously.
At the ceremony yesterday (February 9, 2012), Neil Young introduced Sir Paul, who acknowledged his old friends, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, saying "Way back in history, in Liverpool when we were kids and we were listening to Buddy Holly and all the rock and roll greats, I would have never thought the day would come when I'd be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. That was an impossible thing to happen. But here we are today." The Washington Post have published pictures of a jubilant-looking MCCartney, who is also promoting the release of his latest solo album, Kisses on the Bottom.
Yesterday also marked the 48th anniversary of the Beatles' legendary appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. Their performance on the show reportedly had 73 million viewers tuning in to watch the idiosyncratic British mop-tops playing hits like 'I Saw Her Standing There' and 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand.' Paul's third wife, Nancy Shevell was present at the celebration, though Ringo was apparently too "under the weather" to attend.
