Animated movie Paranorman has ended The Sweeney's reign at the top of the U.K. box office after just one week.
The 3D comedy horror, which features the voices of stars including John Goodman and Leslie Mann, climbed a place to take the top spot with weekend (21-23Sep12) takings of $1.9 million (£1.2 million).
Brad Pitt's new movie Killing Them Softly had to settle for second position after earning $1.5 million (£955,506), while House at the End of the Street, starring Jennifer Lawrence, was another new entry - debuting at three with $1.2 million (£796,041).
The Sweeney, a big screen version of the popular 1970s U.K. Tv drama, dropped to four after taking $1.1 million (£727,742) and Meryl Streep's romantic comedy Hope Springs rounded out the top five with earnings of $1 million (£625,201).
The actor says he isn't "holding out for more money or doing anything like that".
The drama will be making its return to the streaming service in the near future.
