Paralympic Games Set For Star Studded Closing Ceremony
The Paralympic Games closing ceremony is set to be graced by some of the worlds biggest stars, reports The Nme. Coldplay, Rihanna and Jay Z are set to close the games with style.
The Paralympic games has marketed itself as the main event this summer, with the "thanks for the warm up" slogan suggesting the London Olympics were merely a build up. Of course, it's all in good spirit, and connects with the competitive spirit conjured by a summer of sport, but the Paralympic closing ceremony is challenging The Olympics for the biggest show of the year. Already confirmed are global behemoths of the music industry, Jay Z, Rihanna and Coldplay. The British four-piece, fronted by Chris Martin will play their collaborative single, Princess of China as well as an assortment of crowd-pleasing tracks.
"Being asked to play at the closing celebrations for the Paralympic athletes in London is such a great honour for us. Kim Gavin and Misty Buckley are working hard to put on a spectacular Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony for the athletes and spectators in the stadium, and everyone watching around the world, and we are so happy to be involved," said Martin. Also set to join Coldplay on stage is Jay Z, to make the ceremony a truly monumental event. And on top of the global stars poised to wow crowds, a new orchestra comprising 27 disabled musicians will provide a poignant and appropriate facet of the proceedings.
