Overseas Box Office Is The Cat's Meow

The fog that obscured the domestic box office was no where apparent overseas, where Puss in Boots came in on little cats' feet to claim first place with $45.6 million in 42 countries. In fact, in some of those countries it was out-performing the last Shrek movie, from which it was spun off. (It Germany it grossed more than twice Shrek Forever After 's opening figures.) The DreamWorks Animation movie has now earned $142.3 million overseas. Coming in second was the fourth week of The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn -- Part 1 with about $19.8 million, to bring its overseas total to $374 million. Together with the $259 million it has earned domestically, its worldwide total now stands at $633 million. Rounding out the top five were Arthur Christmas with $14.3 million and New Year's Eve with $12.9 million.
