Ousted American Idol Contestant Fined Over Police Run-in
Jones was kicked off the TV talent show in March (12) after show executives discovered he had concealed his criminal past, which included two arrests last year (11).
He appeared in Gloucester Township Municipal Court in New Jersey on Tuesday (31Jul12) and pleaded guilty to a charge of giving a false name to cops.
He faced up to six months behind bars and a $1,000 (£625) fine, but Jones received a lucky break and was simply fined for the offence. The aspiring singer was also ordered to pay an additional $155 (£97) in court costs and related penalties.
Another charge of giving false information to police was dismissed, but he still faces a separate allegation of driving with a suspended licence.
