Osmond Stunned By Mormon Rumours

Former teen idol DONNY OSMOND is stunned by some fans' ignorance of his Mormon religion, after regularly having to declare he doesn't practice polygamy. Osmond, 49, was brought up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a form of Christianity. Even though most Mormons do not practice polygamy, Osmond admits he is regularly asked if he has another wife besides long-time spouse Debra. He says, "People have strange views about my religion. "I'm a Mormon. It's such a misunderstood religion. People keep asking me if I'm a Christian. "The name of the church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I believe in God. I believe in the Bible. I am a Christian. "Some people even ask me how many wives I have."

I am LDS. For those of you who do not know what that means, it stands for "Latter Day Saint". I would like to straighten out the rumors of polygamy.Years ago the Mormons did have more than one wife. Years ago there was slavery. Do we continue to ask people if they are slaves, just because it happened years ago? NO, and thank goodness there isn't slavery any more as no one should be treated that way. The misconception on polygamy with the mormons is because there are a few and I say few Mormons that still practice polygamy and I use the word Mormons lossly when describing these people. The Mormons like to live clean lives and abide by the laws. When polygamy had turned against the law, that is when the Mormons decided to no longer practice this following. The few families that still practice are excommunicated because they are breaking the law. So please do not associate those few with good law abiding Mormons. We use the same Bible other christians use and we like to follow the law. If you happen to come across a polygamistthey will tell you they are the true mormons as they still follow what was taught years ago. Many things change over the years and they need to realize that what they are doing is breaking the law and they need to follow the rules of the law like everyone else. Then and only then can they say they are true Mormons.

The Mormon "church" is as bad as Scientology. More of a cult than a religion. .

Although the lds church does not practice polygamy now they still believe in it. This is the reason why they have not removed it from their Doctrine and Covenants (section 132). If they do not believe in polygamy any more why don’t they remove it from their book? They also still practice polygamy in the temple. For example if I was a Mormon and was married and sealed to my wife and she died I could marry and be sealed to another wife thus securing me 2 wives in the Celestial Kingdom. Here is a quote from their late "prophet" Brigham Young:Brigham Young declares monogamy a system established by robbers:“Monogamy, or restrictions by law to ONE WIFE, IS NO PART OF THE ECONOMY OF HEAVEN AMONG MEN. Such a system was commenced by the founders of the Roman empire....Rome became the mistress of the world, and introduced this order of monogamy wherever her sway was acknowledged. Thus this MONOGAMIC ORDER OF MARRIAGE, so esteemed by modern Christians as a HOLY SACRAMENT and DIVINE INSTITUTION, is nothing but a system established by a SET OF ROBBERS....“Why do we believe in and practice polygamy? Because the Lord introduced it to his servants in a revelation given to Joseph Smith, and the Lord's servants have always practised it. 'And IS THAT RELIGION POPULAR IN HEAVEN?' IT IS THE ONLY POPULAR RELIGION THERE,...” (The Deseret News, August 6, 1862)Osmond claims he is Christian? Christian he may be but the doctrines of his church are anything but christian..

I'm a member the church. I have to laugh a bit when I hear these strange ideas other people have about us. I don't know if it helps much to scour scripture to try and "catch" someone. Besides, that's just so opposite the true spirit of love that Jesus taught us to share, isn't it?All you have to do is go to church on any Sunday and you'll see it's not that terribly different from other Christian denominations. Of course, each congregation depends on the members who live there, so I guess some are stronger and others less so...I'm just lucky to have some great people in my own community. :)
