In an apparent move to avoid competition with next year's Winter Olympics, the 2014 Academy Awards ceremony will be moving to March 2, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today (Monday). (The 2014 Winter Olympics are scheduled to be held in Sochi, Russia on Feb. 7-23. The Oscars had previously been scheduled to take place on Feb. 23.) It will mark the first time since 2004 that the Oscars telecast has aired in March instead of February. It had previously always aired in March or April. The Oscars are scheduled to move to Feb. 22 in 2015.
