Oscars Bosses Defend Fawcett Montage Snub

Bosses at the Oscars have defended their decision to leave FARRAH FAWCETT out of the memorial montage - insisting it's impossible to pay tribute to every star who passed away in the last year.

The Charlie's Angels actress, who died in June (09), was absent from the Academy Awards' tribute section on Sunday night (07Mar10), which marked the deaths of stars including Brittany Murphy and Patrick Swayze.

The snub sparked speculation she was left out because of her predominant television career, with some online critics slamming the ceremony heads for not adding her to the clip.

Jane Fonda was also shocked Fawcett was left out, and wrote on Twitter.com: "Where was Farrah Fawcett? She should have been included."

Screenwriter Roger Ebert added, "No Farrah in the memorial. They have a whole lot of 'splaining (sic) to do."

And U.S. TV personality Star Jones is fuming the actress was not included, because she appeared in movies including The Cannonball Run and The Apostle and was even nominated for a Golden Globe for 1987 film Extremities.

Jones writes on her Twitter page, "FYI (for your information)... Farrah had a very diverse career... that included Broadway, TV & Film. She even received a Golden Globe nom (sic)."

But Oscar bosses have defended their decision. Bruce Davis, the executive director of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, says, "It is the single most troubling element of the Oscar show every year. Because more people die each year than can possibly be included in that segment. You are dropping people who the public knows. It's just not comfortable."

unreal that both Farrah and Bea were left out. Not only were they role models, they were idolized by many, those in the acting industry and those just watching; like myself. It was absolutely disrespectful not to mention them, especially after all of the years of their lives that were spent devoted to entertaining us. My daughter is 19 and knows who Farrah Faucet is and Bea Arther is one of her favorite actresses ever... to the point that first of her xmas list was 'DVD collection of the entire Golden Girls series'. These women were loved by millions and are still thought highly of. There should be a press conference to apologize for FORGETTING these two wonderful ladies. I agree with the other 'poster' that 'we know now who really runs things'. I used to like Micheal Jackson very much too; until he was accussed of molesting a child. Then there was another, then another. No one ever recognized him as an 'actor' they knew him as a pop star. Farrah and Bea were actresses. They were two very distinct actresses who cannot be copied nor replaced. There will never be another Farrah nor Bea. They are irreplaceable. SHAME OF YOU PEOPLE FOR LEAVING THEM OUT! YOU SHOULD APOLOGIZE... PUBLICLY

I guess Oliver Stone is a typical Hollywood bonehead with a bit of talent and too much money. His recent inane babbling is part advertising and part stupidity. September 11, 2001, it's morning and 3000 sleepyheads of mixed nationalities are beginning the last day of their lives. Some are old, some are young, some very young, some are in the exciting fast time of their lives, but all will be dead by the end of this bright sunny blue sky day. People will kill them with fire, falling airplanes, and crushing concrete. All they did was begin their day...that's all. I get the feeling that Stone, and others that you would not want protecting your family, would try to 'talk' and 'reason' with barbarians that have only one goal in life...to kill you and your children for not believing as they believe. They dont want to talk, they want you dead Oliver...dead...and they consider it an honor to die in the process of killing you and your loved ones. Fool.
