Veteran make-up artist WILLIAM J. TUTTLE has died of complications relating to old age. He was 95.
Tuttle passed away at his home in Pacific Palisades, California.
Tuttle was the first make-up artist to win an Oscar - his groundbreaking work on 1964's 7 Faces Of Dr. Lao prompted officials to give him an honorary Academy Award in 1965.
The first competitive Oscar for make-up was won in 1982 by Rick Baker for An American Werewolf In London.
Tuttle is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anita A. Tuttle, and a daughter, Teresa.
