Tom Cruise - Oscar Winner Confirms Tom Cruise 'Auditioned' For Wife
Rumours that Tom Cruise auditioned wives before he met Katie Holmes have been growing over the past couple of weeks, and now one seemingly credible source has confirmed the speculation. Oscar winning director Paul Haggis- a former Scientologist himself - says Tom Cruise definitely auditioned the London based actress Nazanin Boniadi to be his wife.
In an email to Showbiz411.com Haggis revealed that he has known Boniadi for years, saying, "I met her through a mutual friend when I was doing my own personal research into the allegations against Scientology, before I wrote my letter of resignation. Naz was embarrassed by her unwitting involvement in this incident and never wanted it to come out, so I kept silent". Continuing, the 'Crash' director said, "However I was deeply disturbed by how the highest ranking members of a church could so easily justify using one of their members; how they so callously punished her and then so effectively silenced her when it was done". It wasn't just the threats; they actually made her feel ashamed, when all she had been was human and trusting". Vanity Fair's Maureen Orth made the allegations against Cruise in the magazine's October issue, with a representative for the actor later denying the story and telling Abc News, "Lies in a different font are still lies - designed to sell magazines".
Orth's Vanity Fair piece alleges that a wife-auditioning process began in 2004, headed by Shelly Miscavige, the wife of Scientology chief David Miscavige. Actress Boniadi was eventually selected and dated Cruise for a couple of months before they split.
