Orleans Singer Larry Hoppen Dies

Hoppen was found dead in Florida on Tuesday (24Jul12) and the cause of death was still under investigation as WENN went to press.

A statement posted on his official website reads, "To Larry's many fans around the globe, we are sad to inform you that he passed away on July 24, 2012. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family. Larry possessed immense talents, a deep sense of family and community and maintained a commitment to many charitable endeavors. His life is proof that we can - and will - make a difference in the world. Rip, Brother Larry."

Hoppen began his music career when he performed with Boffalongo between 1969 and 1971 and went on to form Orleans with his brothers Lance and Lane.

He was still touring with Orleans in recent years and was scheduled to perform on Fox TV's Fox & Friends All-American Concert Series on Friday (27Jul12).

He is survived by his wife Patricia Smith Hoppen and daughters Claire and Maeve, as well as Lance, Lane and his sister Lynda.
