Oprah Winfrey's Bodyguards Scuffle With Indian Media
According to a report from E! Online, a spokesperson from the Police for the Mathura Region released a statement saying "Oprah Winfrey was in one of the ashrams where the widows stay. Journalists wanted to go in, but were refused entry," Prem Gautam, Superintendent of Police for the Mathura Region, told the wire service. "They had an argument, but it was all sorted." The report goes on to say that nobody was hurt in the incident, but the cameraman's equipment was damaged in the scuffle. Local police detained the bodyguards but released them without charge after the men wrote a letter of apology to the media.
Earlier in the week, Oprah attended a party thrown by the billionaire Parmeshwar Godrej. Godrej's neighbours complained about the volume of the music at the party and police were called to his addressed. The wealthy philanthropist had to pay three fines by way of penance. Also in attendance at the party was the Slumdog Millionaire and Mission: Impossible actor ANIL KAPOOR.
