Ono Blocks Lennon Documentary
John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono has blocked what would have been the world premiere of a documentary about her late husband.
THREE DAYS IN THE LIFE, a documentary shot by Ono's ex-husband Tony Cox, was scheduled to be screened at the Berwick Academy in Berwick, southern Maine on Tuesday (06MAR07).
Cox shot the film over three days in February 1970, in the run-up to the break-up of THE Beatles.
After failing to obtain an artist release from Ono, the documentary's producers RAY THOMAS and John Fallon decided to screen the film for free at high schools and colleges.
However, HAP RIDGWAY, headmaster of Berwick Academy, said he received a letter from Ono's lawyers on Monday and was forced to cancel the screening.
Ridgway says, "We certainly hope the two sides will get together. What we've learned since it all broke loose is that it's a long-running dispute."
Ono was married to Cox twice before wedding Lennon in 1969. Ono and Cox's first marriage was annulled after three months, but their second coupling lasted six years. They divorced just a month before she wed Lennon.
