LATEST: Troubled actress TATUM O'NEAL has vowed to help the man arrested for selling her drugs.
Alan Garcia, 33, was busted with the former child star in downtown New York on Sunday (01Jun08), when police observed him handing over cocaine in return for money.
O'Neal has since enrolled herself in a local Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) therapy group in a bid to remain sober - and she wants Garcia to join her.
She says, "He's not a drug dealer. He's a panhandler who sold drugs."
Meanwhile, the 44-year-old maintains she hasn't taken drugs in almost a year and will celebrate 12 months of sobriety next month (Jul08).
She adds, "I didn't get to do what my disease was telling me to do. I'm still going to get my year on July 10."
