One Of John Lennon's Teeth Up For Auction
The Daily Mirror reports that one of John Lennon's teeth is to be put up for auction in Stockport near Manchester, UK, on November 5th, 2011 and Omega Auctions' Karen Fairweather - who is in charge of the lot - expects it to receive a significantly high winning bid, saying, "this is the most -wonderful and weird item that we have ever had for sale", adding "it is a truly unique item and it is really difficult to put a value on it. We are expecting it to achieve at least 10k but it is not unknown for items as rare as this to reach six figures." Six-figures would be a rather outrageous price for the piece, but when it comes to items related to THE Beatles, it wouldn't come as a surprise. In June, Lennon's handwritten lyrics for 'A Day In The Life' sold for a staggering $1,202,500 (about 810k.)
Ownership of the tooth fell to Lennon's former housekeeper Dot Jarlett when the deceased musician pulled it out himself and told Jarlett to give it to her daughter, "He was in the kitchen and he had this tooth which he had wrapped in a piece of paper," Dot's son Barry said, recalling how Lennon asked, "Dot will you dispose of this? Or as your daughter's a Beatles fan you can give to her as a souvenir".
