One Direction: From Failed Auditions To Madison Square Garden
'The Garden', often reserved for global stars such as Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder and Madonna, will represent the boy-band's biggest concert yet, despite their career still being in its infancy. Singer Niall Horan said, "To be headlining our own show in a venue that has played host to countless legendary acts that we have grown up listening to and adore is obviously a dream come true for us all". The group - which also includes Zayn Malick, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson - began on the 2010 version of the X Factor after each singer had been unsuccessful in the boy's solo category. After a suggestion by guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, the five were put into a band and finished third in the competition behind Rebecca Ferguson and eventual winner Matt Cardle.
Tickets for the Madison Square Garden show will go on-sale this Friday (April 6, 2012), just 24 hours before the band star in a new episode of iCarly and then make their debut on comedy show SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.| Comment on this article |
