Olympics Closing Ceremony: Inside The Secret Rehearsals (Which Feature Madness)

Muse are putting the finishing the touches to their rock odyssey on the stage, George Michael's in the corner doing some vocal warm-ups, Ed Sheeran's at the door trying to convince security he's not just a homeless busker trying his luck, whilst venerable Kinks man Ray Davies watches The Whole scene unfold, his eyes glistening with emotion. It a rehearsal room of dreams, surely, but no, this is the real rehearsal room for Olympic closing ceremony, being conducted in Bow and Dagenham in London - and Madness are going to be joining them!

The Independent is reporting that the ska band will be playing the event, their second high profile concert this year after performing atop Buckingham Palace for the Queen's jubilee. On Sunday night they're expected to play their hit 'Baggy Trousers', which was played after Mo Farah won the 10,000m for Great Britain on Saturday night.

The line-up has been closely guarded by the organisers, but various outlets have been leaking news of who will be attending, with the Spice Girls and The Who among those also expected to turn out. Across in Hyde Park Blur will be headlining a concert with New Order and The Specials supporting. So if Danny Boyle was suggesting the importance of music in British culture in the opening ceremony, then it's' going to be made explicit this weekend.
