Olympic Closing Ceremony Will Be The 'Disco After The Marriage'
The Olympic Closing Ceremony promises to be one of the finest spectacles seen, with event organiser Kim Gavin saying that if the opening ceremony was the wedding, tonight's closer will be the "disco after the marriage".
The two-week long sporting extravaganza will come to an end today (Sunday 12th August) and the closing ceremony will have to do a lot if it is to compete with the extraordinary opening ceremony that was masterminded by Oscar winning director Danny Boyle.
Already tipped to perform, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Mel B are set to reform for a one time only basis for the closer. And if the Spice Girls wasn't enough for 90's pop enthusiasts then the prospect of a reunited Take That will surely suffice.
Following the loss of his daughter, who was stillborn, Gary Barlow had initially cast doubts over the idea of the boyband performing, however he has since come forward and told that he is 'determined' to play.
The closing ceremony, titled 'A Symphony of British Music', is set to highlight the presence that Britain has long had in popular music, showcasing stars both young and old. Also said to perform alongside the Spice Girls and Take That are the remaining members of Queen, Jessie J, Madness, George Michael, One Direction, The Pet Shop Boys and Darcey Bussell.
For those of you wondering what the theme might be for the party, Lord Sebastian Coe has managed to sum up in three words: "Party. Party. Party".
