Olivia Wilde took part in a magic ''boot camp'' to prepare for her role in 'The Incredible Burt Wonderstone'.
The actress - who stars alongside Steve Carrell, Jim Carrey and Steve Buscemi in the comedy caper about rival magicians in Las Vegas - flew to the US gambling capital to learn the tricks of the trade from real magicians in order to play magician's assistant Jane.
She told Total Film magazine: ''It was my boot camp. I thought the script was really far out but once we were in Vegas, I realised it was pretty much a documentary!''
The 'Tron: Legacy' star even received help from famous illusionist David Copperfield and served as his assistant at one of his live shows, but admits she ''failed'' at the role.
''I screwed everything up. I couldn't shuffle, I almost touched the scorpion, I couldn't get the gloves on... Everything necessary to be a good assistant, I failed at.''
However, co-star Carrell praised the actress, revealing she impressed him during her first audition.
He explained: ''When she walked out of the audition, she was immediately the choice. She was really funny without trying to be funny. When someone is reacting to absurdity in a very honest way - that, to me, is funny.''
