Olivia Palermo thinks everyone should own a leather jacket.

The former 'City' star believes the item is a wardrobe staple and girls in the UK particularly know how to wear the ''very cool'' garment.

She said: ''Everyone should own a leather jacket - a very cool one.

''I think that in the UK, girls kind of polish it off with a great leather jacket.''

Olivia believes accessories are key to pulling together a complete outfit.

She said: ''Pull an outfit together and give it that personal touch with accessories. So whether it's a shoe or bag of some sort, it can be anything. My style is classic with a bit of an edge to it.

''I love flats. People see me in heels a lot, but on a daily basis, I'm always in little ballet pumps. They're easy for running around in, while still looking good.''

While she likes comfortable footwear, there is one item of clothing that Olivia won't wear.

She told LOOK magazine: ''When I get home, I usually throw on my French Sole ballet flats and a nice men's cashmere sweater, but I don't really do sweatpants. I always feel a little discombobulated with them on.''
