Oj Simpson - Oj Guilty

OJ Simpson has been found guilty of armed robbery, conspiracy to kidnap and assault with a deadly weapon by a court in Los Vegas.

The former American football star and actor, 61, had been accused of attacking and robbing two sports memorabilia dealers two years ago in a hotel room in the city.

The charges followed an argument he had with the two dealers over sporting memorabilia which Simpson said had been stolen from him.

The armed robbery charges carry a mandatory jail sentence, and kidnapping carries a possible life term in the state of Nevada.

Simpson was acquitted of the murder of his former wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1995 in what was called "the trial of the century". He was dramatically found not guilty 13 years ago to the day but was later found liable for their deaths in a civil case and ordered to pay $33.5m (£19m) to Mr Goldman's family.

There had been fears that because of his previous trial a jury would find Simpson guilty regardless of the evidence in revenge for his acquittal 13 years ago. He angered many Americans two years ago when he published a book entitled “If I did it” in which he outlined how he would have killed his former wife and her friend had he been guilty of their murders.

The jury took thirteen hours to come to their verdicts, Simpson blew out his cheeks as they were read out.

He was then led away with his hands cuffed by police. He will be sentenced in December.
