Off To Kodiak, Alaska: Pitbull Falls Foul Of Walmart Pranksters
The campaign for Pitbull to perform at a Walmart of his fans' choosing was launched last month (June 2012), to promote Energy Sheets - a caffeine infused version of Listerine strips. The internet-based campaign was hijacked of David Thorpe and Jon Hendren of Something Awful. Thanks largely to the pair's efforts the Walmart in Kodiak received over 60,000 'likes' on Facebook. That's nearly ten times the size of the island's population.
Pitbull, meanwhile, is nonplussed about the results of the campaign, insisting that he will go wherever his fans want him to. He may have failed to grasp how many of those 60,000 voters are actually likely to be in Kodiak, Alaska when he performs there. Regardless, a YouTube video of Pitbull insisting that he's not bothered about the trip reveals footage of the store's staff looking delighted at the prospect of the rapper performing at their store.
