Nadya Suleman - Octomom's Doctor Commited 'Gross Negligence'
Octomom has hit the headlines once again after it was announced that her doctor Michael Kamraya is to have his medical license revoked. Octomom, aka, Nadya Suleman, gained international attention in 2009 after she gave birth to octuplets, reports Tmz.com.
After a thorough investigation, the California State Medical Board have announced that Dr Kamrava will have his license revoked on 1st July 2011, arguing that he "did not exercise sound judgement" when he implanted 12 embryos inside Suleman in 2008. The board claim that Kamrava committed gross negligence in agreeing to the procedure and should have instead requested that the unemployed single mother undergo a mental health evaluation. The board's statement added the revocation of the doctor's certificate was necessary to "protect the public". Suleman, who took her total number of children to 14 after giving birth to octuplets, said she expended her family out of emotional need. During an interview with Oprah Winfrey in January 2011, 'Octomom' said, "I'm looking desperately outside myself and using an inappropriate filler to fill something that I should be filling from within".
34-year-old Suleman once worked as a psychiatric technician at Metropolitan State Hospital in California. In 2006, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Adolescent Development before returning to pursue a master's degree in counselling.
