Ocean's 13 Tops Box Officeby Contributor | 13 June 2007
Ocean's 13 made an impressive UK debut after topping box office sales in its opening weekend.
The gamble by movie moguls to produce the third casino-based caper in the Ocean's series clearly paid off, with the film taking £3 million and knocking the third Pirates of the Caribbean flick off the top spot.
After an impressive third heist by Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and his gang Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End fell to second place after just two weeks heading the UK chart.
Pirates' fans parted with a further £2.32 million over the weekend to catch up with the exploits of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and his fellow marauders, creating a total treasure chest of £33.6 million after a three-week run.
Figures from Screen International showed another sequel Are We Done Yet? enter the box office chart in third place, followed by the romantic comedy Wedding Daze.
Spider-Man 3 rounded off the top five, underlying the dominance of sequels in this summer's cinema showings.
Perhaps to the relief of movie goers keen for a change, Ocean's 13 director Steven Soderbergh has already indicated that there will be no fourth film in the series.
However it seems that one of the movie's main stars, Brad Pitt, may also be about to quit the cinema scene if reported comments by his partner Angelina Jolie are to be believed.
In an interview with Parade magazine the actress hinted that she and Pitt may stop working in a few years in order to focus on their family, which comprises of their adopted children Maddox, Pax Thien and Zahara and biological daughter Shiloh.
