Madonna - Obama Support Sees Madonna Draw Crowd Boos In New Orleans
As Madonna’s world tour continues apace, it’s starting to become customary to hear grumblings and general discontent towards the Queen of Pop, with fans in Europe unimpressed by an array of things from strip teases to the use of political imagery and poor sound levels.
Back in America things have been a bit better for Madge, though again not without incident. In Denver she used a fake gun to shoot a masked gun man on stage, drawing criticism in wake of the Aurora Theater Dark Knight screening shooting tragedy that had taken place not long before. Saturday night in New Orleans (October 28, 2012) she drew irate boos from fans after talking about the upcoming presidential election, according to NBC.
"Who's registered to vote?" she asked the crowd during her show, before adding: "I don't care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama." Choosing Obama over republican candidate Mitt Romney didn’t prove to be a popular choice, and the star was roundly booed for her allegiance, ensuing that a hasty back track followed: "Seriously, I don't care who you vote for ... Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote” she sheepishly added. Madonna’s MDNA tour still has some way to run yet; she finishes up in the US on November 20th, but then heads to South America where she’s playing dates right up until December 22nd.
