Obama 'Absolutely Heartbroken' By Hudson's Loss
U.S. presidential candidate BARACK OBAMA has reached out to JENNIFER HUDSON - admitting he has been left "absolutely heartbroken" by the murder of the Oscar winner's mother and brother.
The Dreamgirls star's mum Darnell Donnerson and her 29-year-old brother Jason were gunned down at their home in Chicago, Illinois on Friday (24Oct08).
The actress/singer's nephew, Julian King, who was staying with his grandmother when she was killed, is still missing.
William Balfour, who was once married to the seven-year-old's mother Julia Hudson, is in police custody. No charges have been brought against him as WENN goes to press.
And Obama, who is senator of Hudson's home state, has expressed his shock at the horrific incident - branding the deaths as an "unimaginable tragedy".
Obama tells People.com, "(My wife) Michelle and I were absolutely heartbroken to learn about this unimaginable tragedy and we want Jennifer to know that she is in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. We also pray for the swift and safe return of her young nephew."
And in an interview with E!, he tells host Mario Lopez how he is seeking the star's home number to personally pass on his condolences.
He told the show, "I'm still trying to get a phone number to call her at this tragic time. She is somebody who has campaigned for me, she also lives in my community. So, we're really going to have to... help her and pray for her and her family during this difficult time."
In August (08), Hudson threw her support behind the politician by singing the U.S. national anthem at the Democratic National Convention, after she was personally invited by Obama's campaign.
