Oasis Star To Replace Pete Doherty In Celebrity Tournamentby Contributor | 10 April 2008
OASIS star LIAM GALLAGHER is set to replace PETE DOHERTY in this year's Celebrity Soccer Sixes.
According to the Daily Mirror, the singer has stepped in after Pete was imprisoned earlier this week.
The BABYSHAMBLES front man is serving a 14-week sentence for turning up late to a probation session.
The celebrity tournament is being held at Millwall's ground, the Den, on May 18th.
Previously a number of high-profile bands including KASABIAN, GOLDIE LOOKIN' CHAIN, BLUR and RAZORLIGHT have all donned football boots and taken to the pitch to show off their sporting prowess.
Last year PETE DOHERTY led a team, comprised of his bandmates, to victory after scoring in the final game, reports NME magazine.
Meanwhile, Pete's BABYSHAMBLES bandmates have vowed to stick by him through his jail sentence, despite the fact that his incarceration has led to the cancellation of their April 16th gig at the Royal Albert Hall and could have an affect on their planned Glastonbury appearance.
Drummer ADAM FIECK told Thomas Crosbie Media: "He's had lots of chances, he's going to find it really difficult in there. All I can say is that the band are going to stick with him as always."
