N.w.a. Had To Sign Police Autographs For Playing Controversial Song
The band's promoters had warned Cube and company that they would face incitement charges if they played the controversial track on tour - but they couldn't resist closing out the final show with the tune.
Appearing on U.S. chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday (20Mar12), Ice Cube recalled, "The police started throwing M-80s (and) cherry bombs onstage. They caused a riot. We thought they were shooting (at us).
"They rounded us up (and) they told us, 'We're gonna take y'all to jail; we told you not to perform that song... (but) if you sign autographs for my kids, you won't go to jail!'
"I said, 'Dude, y'all caused a riot for an autograph?'"
