The mother of slain rap legend Notorious B.I.G. is turning her late son's memory into a lasting brand after signing a deal with a marketing company to release products bearing his name and likeness.
Executors of Biggie's estate, including his mum Voletta Wallace and widow Faith Evans, signed an agreement with Brand Sense Partners earlier this month (May11) to produce a range of merchandise with the intention of keeping the Juicy hitmaker's legacy alive.
Biggie, real name Christopher Wallace, was shot dead in March, 1997.
Announcing the deal on Friday (20May11), the rapper's former manager, Wayne Barrow, says, "The family and I are excited to move forward with the exceptional team at Bsp.
"Their understanding of Christopher's cultural impact, as well as their vision for our brand mission made them the best partner possible for the task. We look forward to working hand in hand with them to build on Christopher's unique legacy."
The news emerged on the eve of what would have been Biggie's 39th birthday and rap mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs took to his Twitter.com account to pay tribute to his late protege, whose murder remains unsolved.
Combs wrote, "Happy Birthday B.I.G... Miss you kid..."
