Noel Gallagher persuaded Johnny Marr to play on the ''s***est'' track he ever wrote.

The former Oasis man used to hang around with The Smiths musician before his band took off, but only managed to convince him to appear on the band's 2002 album 'Heathen Chemistry'.

He said: ''He only ever played one Oasis track, 'Probably All in the Mind', and is irony would have it, it was probably the s****est track I ever wrote.''

Noel remembered how humble Johnny was when he first met him and despite having been in one of the country's biggest bands, he never wanted to talk about his own achievements.

He explained: ''He was always all about the music. I was hanging out with him before Oasis took off, and I don't think we ever spoke about anything he'd ever done, all he wanted to talk about was Oasis and what was going to happen to us. I've never met a man as humble as him.''

At one point in 1999 after Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs and Paul 'Guigsy' McGuigan left the band, Oasis even thought of getting to play with them, and he considered joining.

He told NME magazine: ''It was only a contingency. A few phone calls went back and forth between our offices when Bonehead and Guigsy left, but I couldn't do it, and they knew it wasn't a good idea.''
