Noel Gallagher - Noel Gallagher Had No 'Desire' To Write Oasis' Fourth Album

British rocker Noel Gallagher regrets forcing himself to write songs for Oasis's much-maligned Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants album - because he'd lost all "drive" and "desire" to make music.
The star walked out on the band he founded with his brother Liam in 2009 following a big bust up moments before they were due onstage in France, but the singer/guitarist admits he was ready to quit almost a decade earlier.
Gallagher reveals he only penned tracks for the 2000 release because they were contracted to produce a new album to promote on tour.
In an interview with Grantland magazine he says, "We should have never made Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants. I'd come to the end. At the time, I had no reason or desire to make music. I had no drive. We'd sold all these f**king records and there just seemed to be no point.
"I went ahead and did it, even though I had no inspiration and couldn't find inspiration anywhere. I just wrote songs for the sake of making an album. We needed a reason to go on a tour. But at the time, I wasn't thinking like that."
