No Suprises: American Idol's Elise Testone Gets The Boot
Only five contestants remain on this year's American Idol, after 28-year-old Elise Testone from South Carolina, was booted off the show during Thursday's elimination round (April 26, 2012). The trained vocal coach had excelled during the show's rockier weeks, though she surprisingly drew the lowest amount of viewer votes after the Queen tribute night.
Testine - who had found herself languishing in the bottom three on six separate occasions - was voted off following her rendition of Queen's 'I Want It All' and the relatively obscure 'Bold as Love' by Jimi Hendrix. Before their individual performances, the top six finalists performed a medley of Queen hits with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. Unsurprisingly, it was Joshua Ledet who was the standout performer, singing 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' and the R&B track 'Ready for Love'. Jennifer Lopez was effusive in her praise, saying, "Is it bad for me to say Joshua's part of the show is my favorite part of the show?" Randy Jackson kept his cards closer to his chest, telling all six finalists they were ready to sign a record deal, though there can only be one winner on May 23, 2012.
Though Joshua Ledet looks a certainty for the final, less secure are Hollie Cavanagh, 18, and Skylar Laine, 18, who will both need to up their game for next week.
