No Olympics -- But Nbc Still Tops Ratings Chart

After two weeks of Olympics domination, the latest Nielsen ratings list returned to normal -- "summer" normal, that is -- last week. And NBC still had three shows among the top ten, including the top two, the Tuesday edition of America's Got Talent and Sunday's NFL preseason opener between Indianapolis and Pittsburgh. The Wednesday edition of AGT also landed near the top -- at No. 5. CBS took the remaining positions in the top ten, with a repeat of 60 Minutes coming in at No. 3. Fox's highest-rated show was Hell's Kitchen , which tied for No. 13. Nevertheless, the network ranked No. 1 among viewers 18-49, the age group that advertisers prefer. Among the evening news shows, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams remained the leader with 7.8 million viewers, but with its margin of victory cut from the previous two weeks, when it received a boost from the Olympics. ABC World News with Diane Sawyer placed second with 7.0 million viewers, while the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley trailed with 5.5 million viewers. For the week, CBS led with an average household rating of 3.4 and a 6 share, edging out NBC with a 3.3/6. Fox placed third with a 2.6/5, followed by ABC with a 2.4/4.
