No Lack Of Buyers For Family Films On Dvd And Blu-ray

Family films continue to outperform on home video -- the only bright spot on an otherwise dreary business. The latest evidence is the strong performance of Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, which easily captured the top spot on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert chart for overall disc sales and Blu-ray Discs. No. 2 on the list another family film, the Easter-themed Hop from Universal Home Video (which was not released until Friday, instead of the usual Tuesday). No. 3 on the list yet another family film, The Muppets, from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. Three other family films made the top-ten list of sellers Paramount/DreamWorks Animation's Puss in Boots at No. 6; Paramount's The Adventures of Tintin at No. 7; and Happy Feet Two at No. 8.
