Nirvana - Nirvana and The Beatles Join at 12/12/12 Concert, Paul McCartney Plays Kurt Kobain

Two of the biggest rock bands in history, shrouded in tragedy, are Nirvana and The Beatles, so their collaboration- of sorts- is a really big deal. As the Sun reports, Paul McCartney is joining forces with Nirvana for tonight's 12/12/12 charity concert tonight in 2012, and will see McCartney taking the place of Kurt Kobain, who died in 1994 after committing suicide.

"I didn't really know who they were." McCartney said, after Dave Grohl asked him to come 'jam with some mates'. "They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said 'Whoa? You guys haven't played together for all that time?' And somebody whispered to me 'That's Nirvana. You're Kurt.' I couldn't believe it."

Apparently, he's been working in secret with the rest of Nirvana Grohl, Krist Novoselic and unofficial fourth Nirvana member Pat Smear, having recently enjoyed a studio session with Grohl and Krist. According to the Daily Mail, other performances at 12.12.12 will include the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Who, Jon Bon Jovi, Kanye West, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Eric Clapton, and Roger Waters.

Dave and Paul have performed together before at the 2012 Grammys along with Bruce Springsteen and the Eagles' Joe Walsh. Although Sir McCartney was the frontman of the world's most famous band, heading up Nirvana must come with a few nerves.
