Nine Inch Nails Tour 2013 Happening! Trent Reznor Announces Return

26 February 2013

A new Nine Inch Nails tour is in the works according to the band’s front man and sole permanent member Trent Reznor, who revealed that he was resurrecting the seminal industrial metal group that he’d initially retired back in 2009 in a statement.

Trent Reznor will be back in Nine Inch Nails mode as early as this summer

Reznor hasn’t exactly been quiet since bringing NiN to a close four years ago, the musician going on to win an Oscar in 2010 for his soundtrack work on the film The Social Network, while he’s also been making music under the moniker How To Destroy Angels. However his impact as Nine Inch Nails is huge, the group gatecrashing the upper echelons of the US Billboard charts for almost 20 years in spite of an abrasive musical style that was far from radio fare. In his statement, Reznor revealed that he’d been working with guitarist Adrian Belew, of prog veterans King Crimson, and the union had re-focused his attentions on new Nine Inch Nails material.

“Nine Inch Nails are touring this year” Reznor began in his statement, reported Pitchfork. “I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked - which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows.”

In typical Reznor form, it’s a near all-new line-up for the band, with only drummer Ilan Rubin and keyboard player Alessandro Cortini remaining from when the group split. Other members include former James Addiction bass player James Avery and Telefon Tel Aviv’s Josh Eustis. “The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014” Reznor teased.
