Nicole Scherzinger - Nicole Scherzinger Salutes Grammy Awards Wardrobe Code

11 February 2013

Singer Nicole Scherzinger has praised Grammy Awards bosses for instructing female stars to cover up at the ceremony because she fears women often show too much skin on the red carpet.

Bosses at CBS, the network which airs the prizegiving, sent out a memo ahead of Sunday night's (10Feb13) show featuring instructions on how to dress for the occasion, urging stars to "be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered".

Former Pussycat Dolls star Scherzinger has now voiced her support for the plan, telling the Associated Press, "I like that they're doing that. I don't see any problem with it because (at the rate it's going) eventually everyone is going to be coming in bikinis and showing nothing but skin... Women can be beautiful and sexy without having to show everything. Keep it sassy but classy!"

Jennifer Lopez turned up to the ceremony wearing a black gown split to the thigh and she was forced to defend her wardrobe choice on the red carpet, telling reporters, "They didn't say anything about leg!... I thought I was being such a good girl... Did you read this memo? It mentioned things that I don't say around my house or my children. It's crazy."

Singer Kelly Rowland also appeared to flout the rules by wearing a black dress with translucent panels, but insisted she found the rule change hilarious: "It's so funny! I thought about the dress code and thought about it again, and that's about it. I respect (Sic). See, I wore clothes!"
