Nicole Kidman - Nicole Kidman To Be Honored By New York Film Festival

Nicole Kidman is to be celebrated with a gala tribute at the New York Film Festival, reports the Associated Press. Her latest movie The Paperboy is also included in the festival's main slate.
This year's New York Film Festival will run from September 28 to October 14, and opens with Ang Lee's Life of Pi, an adaptation from the book of the same name. On October 3, though, the attention switches to Kidman; "Nicole Kidman is one of film's finest contemporary actresses. Since her breakthrough performance in To Die For and her bold and provocative appearances in Lars Von Trier's Dogville, Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, and as Virginia Woolf in Stephen Daldry's The Hours, Kidman has insisted on finding roles that are complex, bold and demanding," said Richard Pena, festival director. "We are excited to honour her with a tribute at the New York Film Festival."
Kidman, 45, had to wade through a number of domestic TV appearances in her native Australia before breaking through into film. Her cinematic debut came with 1989 thriller, Dead Calm. Her tireless work in film has earned her three Golden Globe Awards, one Bafta, and an Academy Award, and the actress remains active on the humanitarian scene after working with Unicef and Unifem. She's also appeared on Australian postage stamps alongside her fellow Ozzy actors. Kidman has been one of the many stars to express her sorrow at the recent passing of director, Tony Scott: "I'm so so sad. I loved Tony and he was always so good to me. He will be deeply missed by so many of us that knew him," she said.
