Nicole Kidman - Nicole Kidman In Cannes: 'I'm Willing To Fail'
Nicole Kidman has been speaking about her new film 'The Paperboy' at the Cannes Film Festival and told reporters that she is prepared to take risks in her acting career, if it allows her the opportunity to act in a variety of roles. "I don't ever want to be pigeon-holed," Kidman told the press. "I don't want to be told 'no, you can't be in this kind of genre, you can't play this kind of role, because you just can't do it.' I'm willing to fail."
The UK Press Association have also reported that Kidman was asked by director Lee Daniels to do her own hair and make-up for the movie, as the budget was so tight. It's a far cry from the big-budget Hollywood blockbusters to which Nicole is accustomed, but she rose to the challenge. Set to task in her own bathroom at home, she began creating a look for her character Charlotte Bless, who writes letters to death row prisoner John Cusack in the movie, with a bleach-blonde hair piece, and fake tan. Then, Kidman texted the pictures of her new look to Daniels, who gave her the thumbs up for her efforts.
In the movie, Zac Efron plays the man who falls for Charlotte. The former High School Musical star confirmed that he was "ecstatic" when he discovered that she would be playing the role of Charlotte. "I've been in love with her for a long time, since I saw her in Moulin Rouge," Efron confessed.
